Common ED symptoms

- You can get an erection, but it does not last long enough for sex.
- You are unable to get an erection when you want one.
What can cause ED?
ED can involve circulation, nerves, hormones, medications, mental health, relationship stress or a combination of factors. Conditions including diabetes and cardiovascular disease are commonly associated with ED.
How doctors evaluate ED
Evaluation commonly includes a medical and sexual history, medication review, physical exam and—when appropriate—lab tests or other testing. That helps separate vascular, hormonal, neurologic and psychological contributors.
What treatments are available?
Options include lifestyle changes, counseling, PDE5 inhibitor medications, vacuum devices, injectable or urethral medicines and selected surgical treatments. The right choice depends on cause, safety and preference.
